Minor AA, AAA, Majors, 50/70 & Juniors

Tryouts will occur Thursday, January 18th from 5pm - 9pm and Friday January 19th from 5pm - 9pm at Tri-City Little League, Field 6 and January 20th 9am-1pm.

Please refer to the table below for your specific time slot based on age group.  
First come, first serve to determine your tryout session within your age group.  Players are only required to tryout on ONE of the days.

Note:

1. Tryouts are MANDATORY for all players registered for AA, AAA, Majors, 50/70, or Juniors.
2. Tryouts are ONLY for players registered for AA, AAA, Majors, 50/70, or Juniors.
3. Players MUST participate in ONE tryout date to be All-Star eligible.
4.  Age group is defined by the player's "league age" for the Spring 2024 season. This is the player's age as of August 31, 2024. To determine your players "league age" please click here. If you need help, please contact info@tricitylittleleague.com.

Check-in

• Thursday and Friday- Check-in for each age group is 30 minutes prior to the first session for that age group.  Please do not try to check in any earlier than the start time of your specific age group.  This will help reduce the lines and wait time.
• Saturday- Same as above.

Important Things to Remember

• Players must be registered and paid in order to tryout
• Players only attend one session during one of the two days of tryouts
• Players should come to tryouts as they would to practice; baseball pants and cup, cleats, glove, bat and helmet
• Players will tryout in groups of 12, with each group taking about 20 minutes
• Players will be placed in groups by age, i.e. 6-8 year old, 9 year old, 10 year old, 11 year old, and 12 year olds
• All 12 year olds must play Majors and must tryout
• All returning Major Players must attend tryouts
• The actual tryout will consist of the following:
  • Players will receive 3 fly balls, followed by throws to the infield
  • Receive 3 throws at 2nd base from the outfield, and throw to 1st base
  • Receive 3 throws at 1st base
  • Take 3 ground balls at short stop, followed by throws to 1st base
  • Receive 3 throws at 1st base from SS
  • Three hits overhand pitching (max 3 pitches), running through 1st base after the last pitch

50/70 (13) and Juniors (Age 13-14)

• All high school players who are planning to play for TCLL at the end of the high school season MUST be registered by and attend tryouts on the above date
• Players must be registered and paid in order to tryout
• Check-in will take place between Field 5 and 6

Drafts

Once all tryouts are completed, teams will be drafted. Drafts for Juniors, 50/70, Majors, AAA, and AA will occur in the days immediately following tryouts. Managers will contact players by the end of the same week

Note:  Players who participate in tryouts and are not drafted to a Minor AA team will be automatically placed on a Minor A team.

Note:  Some parents may wish to prevent their child from being drafted up to the next division. If you wish to do this, please let us know at tryouts. We have a brief description of this process on our FAQ page in question # 14.
